The Baldwin School is hiring Lifeguards/Swim Instructors to join our Summer Camp! The Lifeguard/Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching swimming lessons, guarding the pool during open swimming, ensuring the safety of all people in the pool area and learning procedures to maintain the cleanliness of the pool facility. Our camp runs Monday through Friday June 19th-July 28th, with an option to work the week of July 31st-August 4th. Lifeguards will start June 13th, 2023 for 4 days of paid mandatory training.
Responsibilities:
Ensure all class participants are visible and safe at all times
Adapt your teaching approaches to the age, experience and ability of participants
Ensure and teach water safety
Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required.
Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.
Teach daily swim instruction to campers grades Pre-K-8th grade with different ability levels
Complete additional duties as assigned by Camp Director
Requirements:
Must be at least sixteen(16) years of age, by June 1st, 2023
At least 1 year of lifeguard experience required
Swim instructor experience preferred
Previous experience working with children
Must have certifications: Current American Red Cross Lifeguard or Water Safety Instructor certification
Hours are typically from 8:30am - 4:00pm; Monday - Friday
Push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds across campus. Be upright, and mobile for an extended period of time.
Must have the physical capability to see (near and far), climb, bend, swim, float, kneel and carry individuals during rescue operations
Prior teaching experience is a plus
