Reporting to the Stanford Redwood City (SWRC) Recreation and Wellness Center General Manager, the Assistant General Manager of Aquatics, Sports, and Special Events oversees the execution of the day-to-day operation of the SRWC pool and the development and management of aquatics, sports and special events.
In this role you will:
Coordinate aquatics programming including planning and scheduling lifeguards, classes and instruction. May occasionally provide direct lifeguarding.
Coordinate the development, implementation, setup and takedown of special events
Provide sports programming to the SRWC staff and faculty community.
Work with SRWC maintenance staff to keep the pool operational and ensure adherence to facility safety guidelines and cleanliness standards.
Provide leadership and supervision of the aquatics and events staff at SRWC, including lifeguards, water safety instructors, officials and other staff.
Plan, organize and facilitate training, work assignments, evaluations, and if needed, disciplinary action for personnel.
Ensures staff have and maintain all required certifications.
Prepare and monitor the annual aquatic, sports, and special events budget to include staffing and revenue projections.
Input classes, lessons, instruction and programming into the registration system(s).
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience or a combination of relevant education and relevant experience. Master's degree in a related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience and knowledge in aquatics management.
Knowledge of current risk management practices in recreational and aquatics facilities
Ability to coordinate daily activities including work scheduling, quality assurance, monitoring of activities, and supervision of personnel.
Ability to function and communicate effectively and respectfully within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Leadership traits including effective communication, supervisory skills, and the ability to manage workflow.
Certifications and Licenses
Current lifeguard, water safety, and AED certification
Current LGI, WSI, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, CPO or AFO preferred.
