Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the daily operations of the Titan Student Recreation Center pool.
Responsible for the development, management, implementation and assessment of diverse aquatic programming and special events to be inclusive of annual goals, objectives, vision and mission of Titan Recreation and ASI.
Collaborating with the Operations Coordinator for facility reservations based on programmatic needs.
Responsible for the oversight and execution of the Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid training for all Associated Students Inc. staff.
Responsible for the daily management of all aquatics staff members including but not limited to, recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluations.
Responsible for conducting a comprehensive regular in-service training program for all aquatics staff.
Responsible for evaluating, updating, and revising all aquatics manuals, handbooks, waivers, forms, team member personnel files (performance appraisals, performance coaching memos, and certification logs) and policies and procedures.
Maintain a full knowledge of current risk management standards, policies and practices in aquatic operations and programming. Ensure that all risk management and liability expectations are met and documented.
Ensure the department and facility is in compliance with all safety/risk management requirements.
Maintain safety records on proper operation and maintenance of aquatic facilities to meet or exceed city/county/state health regulations, national standards or accepted practices in the operation of aquatic facilities.
Prepares annual income and expense budgets as well as capital budget recommendations for aquatics department and Red Cross classes.
Develops recommendations for revenue growth.
Collaborates with marketing staff to identify and develop marketing strategies and promotional efforts to educate the campus community about aquatics programming and special events.
Collect, monitor, and analyze data to make recommendations and identify trends for the Director of Titan Recreation.
Prepare an annual report for the aquatics department, including but not limited to statistical data, assessment, challenges and recommendations
As a member of the Titan Recreation team, meet regularly with other personnel to establish and ensure effective on-going communication and coordination.
Provide support to the entire Titan Recreation team in the development and implementation of special programs, events and/or projects.
Creates a welcoming environment that promotes well-being, diversity, civility, safety, quality and excellence.
Builds effective relationships with various departments across campus.
Participates on various committees.
Performs other duties as assigned in relation to the organizational vision, mission, and values.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree required, in Kinesiology, Recreation, or related field.
Experience:
One year of related experience
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor (LGI) Certification
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification
Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, and evaluate aquatics programs.
Ability to independently interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures
Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and direct the operations of aquatic's programs.
Ability to prepare and manage budgets as well as financial reports.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative, and harmonious relationships within a multi-cultural campus environment.
Physical Requirements:
Frequently required to sit, talk, listen, and walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; clear verbal communication.
Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
Ability to exert physical effort, including bending, squatting, reaching, or being on feet for long periods of time.
Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone, and grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
Special Requirements:
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Lifeguarding Instructor (LGI) and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
Must have or obtain within six months of hire:
American Red Cross Title 22 Certification
American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Instructor Certification Bridge
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO)
Must be able to pass a urine drug test.
Upon hire an employment history and criminal background investigation will be completed.
Subject to DMV Pull program requiring valid driver's license, current auto insurance be always on file and must meet CSURMA driving standards. May be required to drive occasionally as needed. May be required to use personal phone for business related activities.
Required to be a Mandatory Reporter and sign ASI Mandatory Reporter Form.
