Requisition Number: 0812780 Number of Open Positions: 1 Other Title Information: Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Watershed Sciences / Geomorphology Organization: 204681 - NEW COLLEGE Position Summary: New College and the Department of Geography at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, invite applications for a full-time (9-month) tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Interdisciplinary Watershed Sciences or Geomorphology. The successful candidate will be appointed to New College with a cross-appointment in the Department of Geography in the College of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an extramurally funded, interdisciplinary research program in the broad areas of watershed, coastal, marine or aquatic sciences, water resources, or geomorphological processes, with potential applications for watershed management or policy. Researchers examining coastal or fluvial erosion, flooding, landform evolution, or biogeomorphology are especially encouraged to apply. Ad Text: The successful candidate should employ interdisciplinary or integrative research methodologies, including field-based modes of inquiry, to complement New College's emphasis on interdisciplinary research and teaching in Environment, Sustainability, and Conservation and the Department of Geography's emphasis on physical geography and human-environmental interactions. Potential exists for collaborations with other University faculty interested in water-related research and policy through the Alabama Water Institute, NOAA National Water Center, and/or the USGS Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising of diverse undergraduate students with varied interests in interdisciplinary natural and environmental sciences is required.
